The Haryana College of Technology and Management, Kaithal was set up in 1998 at Kaithal by the Dr Puran Chand Dharmarth Trust, a philanthropic Society Haryana. The NBA-Accredited College, which is permanently affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra has been set up with the objective of imparting creative, entrepreneurial and communication skills to its students as they keep pace with the global advances in technology. The Haryana College of Technology and Management is ISO 9001:2000-certified.

The college, one of the top engineering colleges in the area, which started out with 180 students, now has 846 students and has recently launched a 2-year Post Graduate Programme that leads to an MBA degree. In the academic year 2008-2009, they introduced M.Tech programmes in Computer Science Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering and M-tech along with MCA. The college currently has five departmental Societies: the Mechnoviz Society, Strom Society, Electrocats Society, Computer Club Society and IT Society.

Recently, Mechanical Engineering students from Haryana College of Technology and Management, Haryana's best engineering college, successfully designed and fabricated a hybrid car as well as helicopter. The work of two of the college’s students was short listed for the 9th International Autonomous Underwater Vehicle competition held in San Diego, in the US also 55 students got University positions in different branches.

The college has a well-equipped cell for research and development work which has given faculty members the opportunity to work on and submit research papers in the field of nanotechnology and theoretical nuclear physics. Some students of the college are currently pursuing project work in nanotechnology under the guidance of faculty members. The college makes regular improvements in its infrastructural, academic, technical and placement facilities.

The college is situated 200km from Delhi and is located on the National Highway 65 on the Ambala Kaithal Road. Some of the companies in which the students of the Haryana College of Technology and Management have found placements including Wipro Infotech, Vedanta, Mphasis, Infosys, L&T, Tech Mahindra and many more.

The establishment of HIET (Haryana Institute of Enggineering & Technology) connected by road from delhi and is located on National Highway (N.H-65) on the Ambala road, Kaithal is conceived by a team of eminent and committed academicians and educationists with a mission to act as an idealist and facilitator for students to develop their full potential and achieve greater success by providing them education, training, consultancy and research facilities through pioneering initiatives and imparting of appropriate technical tools, techniques, ethics and values.
